Semaglutide Weight Loss

Semaglutide is an injectable medication (GLP-1) for treating type 2 diabetes and weight management. Clinical Participants who used Semaglutide injections experienced an average weight loss of approximately 15% of their body weight within just a few months. Semaglutide helps regulate low blood sugar levels as well as help control appetite, assisting with portion control. Semaglutide injections are used successfully as an adjunct to a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or greater, or 27 kg/m2 or greater when accompanied with a weight-related condition such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, or dyslipidemia.

In clinical trials, where Tirzepatide was incorporated as an adjunct to diet and exercise, participants experienced significant weight loss compared to those on a placebo over 72 weeks. At the highest dose of 15 mg, individuals shed an impressive average of 48 lb., while even at the lowest dose of 5 mg, the average weight loss was a remarkable 34 lb. (as opposed to 7 lb. on placebo). An eye-catching finding was that 1 in 3 patients taking Tirzepatide at the highest dose achieved a weight loss exceeding 58 lb. (25% of body weight), a stark contrast to the mere 1.5% on placebo. Notably, these results were not controlled for type 1 error, underscoring the impactful nature of Tirzepatide in the weight loss journey. The average starting weight of participants was 231 lb.

Semaglutide is an injectable medication for treating type 2 diabetes and weight management. It belongs to a class of drugs known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. Semaglutide stimulates the GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, which leads to increased insulin secretion in response to elevated blood sugar levels. It also reduces the release of glucagon, a hormone that raises lower blood sugar levels.

Clinical trials have shown that Semaglutide, when used at higher doses for weight management, can lead to significant weight loss in participants. This makes it a valuable option for individuals struggling with genetic or conditional weight retention. 

Common side effects may include nausea, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite. These side effects are often more noticeable when starting the medication but tend to improve with time.

  • History of any thyroid condition
  • Personal or family history of MTC (medullary thyroid cancer)
  • Personal or family history of MEN 2 (multiple endocrine neoplasia, type II)
  • Prior serious hypersensitivity reaction to semaglutide or any component in the formulation.
  • History of pancreatitis
  • BMI must be greater than 30 (or greater than 27 with one or more weight-related medical condition such as hypertension, diabetes, knee pain, etc)
  • Semaglutide is not recommended for people with type 1 diabetes or those with a history of severe gastrointestinal disease. It should be used with caution in individuals with a history of pancreatitis.

The most common form of Semaglutide is available as a subcutaneous injection, and that is the administered method for treatment with Blue. It comes in a pre-filled syringe, and patients typically self-administer the injection once a week. Part of the Weight Loss by Blue program is provider education on how to successfully self-administer Semaglutide, however, accomadations can be made depending on patient preference and medical history.

The B-12 shot, power shot, and Lipo-Plex shots are all administered by very quick and relatively painless injection. Vitamin Shots at Blue are administered directly into the buttocks by a certified medical provider.
